WE ARE TEDxPICT
We at TEDxPICT work for the sole purpose of bringing together an event that prioritises the sharing of ideas, stories and innovations that benefit the world at large. The sharing of ideas is crucial for the survival of a society that promotes progress, and TEDxPICT plays its part by providing various speakers a platform for the same. Encouraging free thought on issues many barely speak about, shedding light on hidden stories and bringing forth a surge of inspiration, energy and enthusiasm is what we're known for.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman. The annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Vancouver, British Columbia. TED’s media initiatives include TED.com, where new TED Talks are posted daily; the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed. TED has established the annual TED Prize, where exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world get help translating their wishes into action; TEDx, which supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self- organized TED-style events around the world, and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.

LESSONS FROM A YOUTH ACTIVIST
The toughest of problems that plague the world are challenged not by the governments or organisations, but by activists working at the base level to uproot these ills. It takes real determination to become a youth activist for a cause. What does a youth activist do, however? Aakash Shah shares his experiences and lessons as a youth activist and gives us a different take on how we can create a positive impact in society. Aakash is a 23 year old Human Rights Activist and chairman of Action for Pune Development, a youth organization based in Pune. TURNING PLASTIC BACK TO FUEL
A world without plastic is unimaginable, even if we know the adverse effects it can have on our own health, and on the environment in general. Plastic is non-biodegradable, which made it rather difficult to dispose of - until now. Dr. Medha Tadpatrikar has shown us a fantastic innovation that allows us to recover plastic by converting it to fuel. Witnessing the death of deer due to plastic ingestion was the catalyst for Medha to begin working on waste plastic and segregation at source. Under her leadership, the Keshav Sita trust collects waste plastic. Till date, more than 200 metric tonnes of plastic has been collected and saved from the landfill. She is also instrumental in developing the technology that recovers usable fuel from waste plastic. Sustainable technologies are expensive, but Dr. Medha has shown that with enough dedication, one can innovate and figure out easier and more cost-effective ways of reducing the burden on this planet of ours.

INDUCING INTELLIGENCE IN YOUNG MINDS
What happens in the name of education these days but pandering to the needs of the bureaucracy and those in power? Thankfully, some do exist who, through grassroots movements, have started revolutionising the meaning and means of education. Mr. Prasan Wilfred is one of them. Mr. Wilfred is the Founder and ex-Director of The Genius, based in Indore. The Genius started off as a small group of children of varied ages, visiting Mr. Wilfred's house to solve puzzles, read books and have discussions. Mr. Wilfred - or "Uncle" as he is fondly known - aims to celebrate the learning process of a child via recreational activities. He firmly believes in the process of self-learning and emphasises on the importance of teaching children soft skills from a young age. His work underscores the importance of imparting the necessary values of education to children, that they may be truly learned in not only the academic ways and methods, but also worldly ones.
