WELCOME TO TEDxPICT

We are passion made visible.

WE ARE TEDxPICT

We at TEDxPICT work for the sole purpose of bringing together an event that prioritises the sharing of ideas, stories and innovations that benefit the world at large. The sharing of ideas is crucial for the survival of a society that promotes progress, and TEDxPICT plays its part by providing various speakers a platform for the same. Encouraging free thought on issues many barely speak about, shedding light on hidden stories and bringing forth a surge of inspiration, energy and enthusiasm is what we're known for.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

About TED

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman. The annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Vancouver, British Columbia. TED’s media initiatives include TED.com, where new TED Talks are posted daily; the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed. TED has established the annual TED Prize, where exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world get help translating their wishes into action; TEDx, which supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self- organized TED-style events around the world, and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.

MEERA BADWE

FROM BEGGING BOWLS TO EMPOWERED MINDS

"It came, over and over, down to this: What made someone a mother? Was it biology alone, or was it love?"

Meera Badve is a woman driven by passion for selfless service, her students, to reach greater heights. She acts as both foster-mother and teacher to over 3000+ children and trained them to be independent. This would be a tremendous task on its own, but the one thing which makes her such an amazing human is that all of her children are visually challenged. Through her actions she has pioneered ways of teaching kids who are blind, making them self sufficient human beings despite their so-called disability. She has fiercely fought for equal opportunities for her children and firmly believes that opportunities not charity will help uplift her children. Through her love and affection, her children grow up to achieve some of the greatest heights, something that we who can see cannot even imagine

PRASAN WILFRED

INDUCING INTELLIGENCE IN YOUNG MINDS

What happens in the name of education these days but pandering to the needs of the bureaucracy and those in power? Thankfully, some do exist who, through grassroots movements, have started revolutionising the meaning and means of education. Mr. Prasan Wilfred is one of them. Mr. Wilfred is the Founder and ex-Director of The Genius, based in Indore. The Genius started off as a small group of children of varied ages, visiting Mr. Wilfred's house to solve puzzles, read books and have discussions. Mr. Wilfred - or "Uncle" as he is fondly known - aims to celebrate the learning process of a child via recreational activities. He firmly believes in the process of self-learning and emphasises on the importance of teaching children soft skills from a young age. His work underscores the importance of imparting the necessary values of education to children, that they may be truly learned in not only the academic ways and methods, but also worldly ones.
